How do I renew or upgrade my Membership?
You can renew or upgrade online, call 0845 121 6823 or visit the Box Office in person.
When can I upgrade my Membership?
You can chose to upgrade to Orange or Red Membership at any time. If you choose to upgrade at renewal time (up to two months prior to your expiry date), you will simply be charged the total new Membership fee and your new Membership will begin when your current Membership expires. If you choose to upgrade at any other time during your Membership, (e.g. more than 2 months before expiry), you will be charged a one-off upgrade payment which can me be made by credit card or by Direct Debit.
How long will it take to receive my new or renewed Membership card?
New Members Please allow 21 days for your Membership card and welcome pack to arrive in the post. However, you can use your new Membership number immediately to obtain discounts and benefits -before your welcome pack arrives - simply print off the temporary Membership card that appears on your confirmation page when booking online, or request your Membership number from the Box Office if joining by phone or in person.
Renewing Members
Renewing Members can continue to use their existing Membership number and card until their new card arrives.
I still haven't received my Membership card - what should I do?
If you have been waiting more than 21 days for your new or renewed Membership card to arrive, please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823 or e-mail tickets@barbican.org.uk
How do I obtain a replacement Membership card?
If your Membership card is lost or stolen, please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823 or e-mail tickets@barbican.org.uk to request a replacement. Your replacement card will arrive within 21 days. You can continue to use your Membership number to obtain discounts and benefits whilst waiting for your replacement card.
Who should I make cheques payable to?
Please make cheques payable to Barbican Centre.
I would like to cancel my Direct Debit - what should I do?
You can cancel your Direct Debit at any time by informing your bank or building society directly. Please also call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823 to inform us that you wish to cancel your Direct Debit.
Membership options
How many Membership types are there? The Barbican now offers three levels of Membership, available at £20/25, £40/45 and £100/105 per year, so you can choose the option that's right for you.
How do I purchase Gift Membership?
Gift Membership is the ideal present for arts lovers. Your recipient will receive a welcome pack notifying you as the donor and will enjoy a whole year of benefits, discounts and privileges for the Membership level you have chosen for them. To purchase Gift Membership, please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823 or visit the Advance Tickets desk.
My personal details have changed - how can I update my Membership record?
You can amend your personal details quickly and simply online by logging in and selecting 'edit details' or call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823.
I am currently a standard Barbican Member, which colour Membership do I have now?
You are now an Orange Member and will enjoy all the benefits of Orange Membership until your Membership expires. When your Membership nears expiry, please contact us to renew as a Red, Orange or Yellow Member.
I am currently a Direct Debit Member, which Membership do I have now?
You are now an Orange Member and will enjoy all the benefits of Orange Membership until your Membership expires. When your Membership nears expiry, please contact us if you would like to be transferred to Red or Yellow Membership. If you do not contact us your Direct Debit Membership will automatically renew at the Orange Direct Debit price (£40).
I am currently a main Resident Member, which Membership do I have now?
You are now an Orange Resident Member and will enjoy all the benefits of Orange Membership until your Membership expires. If you are a Direct Debit payer, please contact us when your Membership nears expiry if you would like to be transferred to Red or Yellow Resident Membership. If you do not contact us your Direct Debit Membership will automatically renew at the Orange Resident direct debit price (£35).
I am currently an additional Resident Member, which Membership tier do I have now?
You are now an Orange Resident Member and will enjoy all the benefits of Orange Membership until your Membership expires. Please note that from the launch date of the new Membership scheme, the additional £5 resident Member price has been discontinued. If you are a Direct Debit payer, your Membership will now expire and not automatically renew on your next annual payment date. To set up a new Yellow, Orange or Red resident Direct Debit Membership, please contact the Box Office.
I am currently an Access Barbican Member, which Membership tier do I have now?
You are now an Orange Member and will enjoy all the benefits of Orange Membership until your Membership expires. If you are a direct debit payer, your Membership will automatically renew at the Orange Direct Debit price (£40). Please contact us when your Membership nears expiry if you would like to be transferred to Red (£100) or Yellow (£15) Membership. (N.B. Access members receive a £10 discount on Yellow Membership to enable them to stay in touch and receive Membership mailings. All other Membership options purchased will be charged at the full standard or Direct Debit price.)

How do I obtain my benefits over the phone/online/at the Barbican?
When booking online, simply log in to the Barbican website using your unique Membership number. Your Membership discounts will be automatically applied to your tickets (subject to availability). When booking through the Box Office either by phone or in person, simply quote your Membership number to a member of the Box Office team to obtain your discounts.
What events are there for Members?
As an Orange or Red Member, you can enjoy invites to exclusive Members' events throughout the year. These include private film screenings, drinks receptions, private views in Barbican Art Gallery and ScreenTalks. Look out for information on upcoming events in your monthly Barbican Guide Members' letter, Members' e-updates or on the Members' events page . Many events are free to attend.
How many guests can I bring to events?
Members can bring one accompanying guest to events, unless otherwise stated.
I'm having difficulties using my Membership number online to log in/obtain discounts - what should I do?
Please ensure that you use the correct Membership number that appears at the top or your monthly Barbican Guide Members' letter, or on your current Membership card. If you experience difficulties logging in or obtaining discounts online, please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823.
Members' communications
I haven't received my copy of the Barbican Guide, or other Barbican mailings - what should I do? Please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823, or e-mail tickets@barbican.org.uk if you are not receiving your Membership mailings through the post. All Members will automatically receive our monthly Members' e-update (if you have provided an e-mail address and your data protection status tells us that you are happy to be contacted by the Barbican). If you would like to unsubscribe from these e-updates and all e-mails from the Barbcian, please select the 'unsubscribe' option on the bottom of the e-update. If you would only like to unsubscribe from the Members' e-update, please log-in and change your preferences in the 'edit details' section of the Barbican website.
I am moving abroad - can I still receive Members‘ mailings?
Yes, you can continue to receive Members' mailings if you move abroad. Please call the Box Office on 0845 121 6823 to notify us of a change to your address.
