A rare opportunity to discover the choral music of some of the Baltic’s most vibrant voices. Danish Bo Holten will be familiar to UK audiences as a fine conductor, as will Esa-Pekka Salonen, here represented by his powerful Two Songs. The Canticum Mariae Virginis is a beautiful example of the art of senior Finnish composer Rautavaara while from his one-time pupil the vivacious Olli Kortekangas comes the appealing The Way to the Woods.
