Find out more about the life and music of Karol Szymanoski, whose works Valery Gergiev will be exploring throughout the 2012/13 season.

10am-1pm, Barbican Hall
Valery Gergiev and the LSO rehearse Szymanowski’s Symphony No 2. You will also get to hear Brahms Symphony No 2 and Tragic Overture.

Unlike our Open Rehearsals, as part of the Discovery Day experience, audience members have the opportunity to observe the conductor and Orchestra from the Stalls, giving a unique and more intimate insight into the workings of an LSO rehearsal.*

2.30- 5.30pm, Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke’s
Talk by Professor Adrian Thomas on the life and work of Szymanowski, followed by LSO players David Worswick, Paul Robson (violins), Robert Turner (viola), and Amanda Truelove (cello) performing Szymanowski’s String Quartet No 2.

All events are subject to change without prior notice
*Please note that the conductor may choose to not use the full rehearsal time.
